Head of Engineering, Shannon Commercial Properties
I joined Shannon Commercial Properties in 2016 as a Project Manager and in my current role as Head of Engineering I manage our Capital Development and Operations Teams to develop and promote our property portfolio at the Shannon Campus and across the Mid-West. Our team manages a huge number of projects every year so it’s a new challenge every day which keeps me motivated. The fast-paced environment and working with interdisciplinary teams from designers, to contractors, local start-ups to world leading FDI’s makes every day varied and exciting but challenging. If I could describe my role in three words I would have to say; Engaging, exciting and dynamic.
Shannon Commercial Properties manage the largest business park outside of Dublin, and we provide turn-key solutions for companies from start-ups to large multinationals in our core asset in the Shannon Free Zone and across the wider Mid-West Region. I’m proud to be part of the team redeveloping this iconic and world leading Business Park, that also has the largest cluster of FDI investment outside of Dublin.
During my time at Shannon Commercial Properties we have developed Café units, an enterprise hub, office space, warehousing and even an A380 hangar; having never managed a hangar project before this was a new challenge for me, but certainly one of my career highlights. Through our collaboration with our colleagues in Shannon Airport and hard work, we were able to deliver this 98,000 sq ft aircraft painting hangar for clients IAC on time and on budget.
Being a Clare native and growing up locally I was always aware of the importance of Shannon Airport both nationally and internationally and now having a chance to shape the airport for the next 80 years gives me great pride.
One of the key roles for me as part of the management team is anticipating the needs of our potential tenants, and future proofing our properties so our buildings and designs must be as flexible as possible. I work closely with our design teams to achieve this.
