Communications Assistant- Customer Service Support Airport Information Centre – Shannon Airport Temporary Assignment (Ref: SAA 06/2019)

Shannon Airport is inviting applications for the role of Communications Assistant – Customer Service Support. This is a temporary role, from April/May to September 2019, within the Airport Information Centre at Shannon Airport.

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to help and support passengers and other users of the airport. The role involves dealing with requests for information and keeping passengers updated on changes to flight information with the aid of the IT systems provided. This role will work closely with other members of the Airport Operations teams.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Front Line Information Desk duties
  • Roaming customer service role throughout the terminal
  • Operate Car Park Customer Services
  • Telephone Switchboard Operation
  • Updating Flight Information Systems
  • Operating the public address system
  • Compile Daily Information Desk Report
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to customer queries and requests
  • Assisting queue management
  • Assist members of the public by ensuring access to all car parks and assisting with any inquiry or issue
  • Activate emergency call out procedures as necessary
  • Ad Hoc duties as assigned by Airport Operations Management

Competencies Required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – Excellent standard of spoken English and a second language is desirable
  • Possess and demonstrate a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service daily
  • Full appreciation of the company’s Customer Charter
  • A confident and professional approach to work
  • Proven ability to make customer centric decisions
  • Possess sensitivity and understanding, patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Computer skills including use of MS Word
  • Knowledge of the airport, its customers and tenants would be an advantage
